Premier League weekend in numbers

The weekend's Premier League fixtures produced a number of interesting statistical pointers.

 

Liverpool 0-1 Sunderland
Liverpool have the worst conversion rate in the Premier League this season, scoring with just 8.4% of their shots.

 

Only Manchester City (21) have won more points in the Premier League than Sunderland (19) in 2012 so far.

 

Chelsea 1-0 Stoke

This was the first time this season that Chelsea have stopped the opposition from attempting a shot on target in an entire Premier League match.

 

John Obi Mikel had the most passes in attacking third this weekend, 35, completing 31 of them.

 

Bolton 2-1 QPR
Bolton scored six goals from just eight shots on target in their two games against QPR this season.

 

Bolton have won 13 of their 23 (57%) points this season against the other teams in the current bottom five.

 

Aston Villa 1-0 Fulham
Aston Villa scored in the 90th minute (or later) in a Premier League game for the first time since 16 April 2011.

 

Fulham have won just two of their last 14 away games in the Premier League.

 

Wolves 0-2 Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers kept their first Premier League clean sheet in 31 games & first since 30 April 2011 in the competition.

 

Blackburn have scored first in all eight Premier League meetings against Wolves.

 

Mauro Formica made more interceptions than any other Premier League player (eight) this weekend.

 

Everton 1-0 Tottenham
Tottenham have not won on any of their last five visits to Goodison Park (W0 D3 L2) in the Premier League.

 

Excluding blocked shots, Nikica Jelavic scored with his first shot in Premier League football.

 

The last time Tottenham lost three PL games in a row, they sacked their manager (Juande Ramos).

 

Manchester United 2-0 West Brom

Manchester United have scored at least two goals in each of their last eight Premier League games.

 

Wayne Rooney (Dave Thompson-PA Wire)United conceded only five fouls against the Baggies.

 

Wayne Rooney had four shots on target, more than any other player in the division this weekend.

 

Swansea 1-0 Manchester City

There have been just five goals scored in the last six away games City have played, with the last five all ending with a 1-0 scoreline.

 

City’s possession rate of 45% was their third lowest of the season.

 

Norwich 1-1 Wigan

Wigan had seven shots on target to Norwich’s two in this game.

 

Wigan conceded only eight fouls but picked up four yellow cards.

 

Hugo Rodallega had seven shots in the match, more than any other player in the Premier League this weekend.
