I've got my life back at Spurs - Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor celebrates his goal, Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa, Premier League, White Hart Lane, London, November 21, 2011

Emmanuel Adebayor feels he has been given the freedom to perform at Tottenham

Emmanuel Adebayor claims Harry Redknapp has given him his life back and is hopeful his wage demands will not scupper a permanent move from Manchester City to Tottenham.

Adebayor endured a torrid time at City last term, eventually securing a loan move to Real Madrid after falling down the pecking order under Roberto Mancini. He failed to secure a permanent move to Spain, allowing Redknapp to step in and bring him to Tottenham on loan.

The Togo forward has impressed at White Hart Lane and reinforced his claims for a permanent move with both goals in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa.

Adebayor has revealed he is delighted with life under Redknapp and would be happy to stay, but is aware Spurs may struggle to get near his current £170,000 a week wages.

"For me it's always special to have a manager like him," Adebayor said. "He has given me confidence, has given me my life back. He tells me before every game: 'Adebayor - go out there, you know what you can do, just enjoy your football. If you can score goals, score goals, make assists, keep doing your thing,' and that's it."

Adebayor's current wages would shatter Tottenham's pay structure, but the forward would appear reluctant to take a pay cut.

"We all play football to gain money," Adebayor said. "I am from Africa and I have to give something back to my community. I have been doing a lot of charity stuff.

"I am using my wages to do it and I will keep doing it until the end of my career so for me I will leave that (negotiations) to Harry Redknapp, chairman (Daniel) Levy, and (City chairman) Khaldoon (Al Mubarak) to find a solution between themselves."

Had forgotten he was still there until I saw his 2 goals on the news. Arry's mum could have scored them !

His best days were at Arsenal, proved what a genius Mr Wenger is moving him on at the right time. Did he play when Spurs were lucky to beat Arsenal's reserves the other week, don't remember him having a kick !!!

Adebayor earns £170k a week,  won't lower his demands so he can send £2 a month to charity.

Send him back to City.

Never Know, if he is enjoying it that much, he might lower his wage demands to stay at Spurs BUT I DOUBT IT, he earns in a week what it takes me 8 years to earn and that is what wrong with the game today, out of touch with the common man, imagine what GREAVE'SY would earn today, on the other hand don't Jimmy.
