Balotelli stops at school for toilet break

Mario Balotelli shows his affection for Manchester City, Manchester City v Swansea, Premier League, Eastlands, Manchester, August 15, 2011

Mario Balotelli is never far from the headlines

Mario Balotelli gave students of a college in Manchester a day to remember after turning up unannounced and asking if he could use their toilet.

The eccentric Manchester City striker has entertained English football fans and media alike with his unpredictable behaviour, which has previously included driving into a women's prison, throwing darts at youth team players and reportedly giving a homeless person £1000 after a successful night at a casino.

For his latest trick, Balotelli parked up his Bentley at Xaverian College in Rusholme and went into the canteen to ask students if there was anywhere he could relieve himself.

After using the toilet he spoke with teachers in the staff room and then walked around the college being followed by hordes of excited Manchester City fans before leaving 20 minutes after he had first arrived.

"Xaverian was delighted to receive a surprise visit from Mario, who chatted to some of the students at one of Manchester's most successful colleges," a spokesman for the college said. "We weren't able to enrol him on any courses, but he is welcome back anytime."

A number of understandably thrilled students were quoted in the Manchester Evening News, including Edward Gasson, who was sitting in the canteen when Balotelli turned up.

"Balotelli parked his Bentley outside then came in and was asking where the toilets were, then he went to the teacher's staff room," he said. "After that he was just walking round campus like he owned the place and everyone was following him around.

"I'm a City fan so it was amazing to see him but it was a bit ridiculous for him to come here - you would never expect it to happen."

We are always saying why cant footballers be more human and set a example for young fans.....He's having a laugh in life and not taking himself seriouslySmile If only the FA and more footballers started acting less seriously

I'm a Utd fan and you know what...I think this guy is wonderful, can't help but like him! He might be as mad as a bag of frogs but he's harmless and very entertaining.

some of you grumpy old men have forgotten what it was like

to be young and enjoy yourselves, think back to the things you

got up to, at least he is not a stuck up pratt like some others.

Guess when you're playing a game every two or three days even the most loyal supporter starts to feel the financial pinch, sim1. Not a problem for United's prawn sandwich crowd, I suppose, but still a bigger gate than any of the other games that night.

Anyway, to Balotelli. Mad as a fish, brilliant or crap and the most eccentric player in Europe. Love him.

I read some of the posts here and wonder what small lives their writers must have. If you can't get  joy out of what happens in football  and its characters maybe you should take up competitive knitting. At least you'd have a reason for being so bloody miserable

I'm not a City fan but I really like Balotelli. He is making himself accessible to the fans, he obviuosly has a sense of humour (if a somewhat strange one at times and it's clear he is loving his football. Think he has been impressive on the whole this season. And if you've got it(cash) why not enjoy sharing it around a little, makes him far more human to me & less isolated for society...... keep up the antics, I love them!

I love you Manchester City supporters. City have been crap to mediocre for donkeys years when on a similar budget to other clubs. Some rich arab comes along and you act like you deserve it. You'll never have any respect. You're a bought club. A toy. A billionaires plaything. And you still won't win anything.

ps. I don't support Man Utd before you start.

This is really a nice man with a big Red heart. He just needed time to adjust to life over here, and in doing so he has been able to let his wall down. AS where he was living before.

Why is this bloody news? I couldn't care less where he has a ****. Only does this sort of thing for attention. I'd be embarressed if this was the only way to get in the news. Doesn't say much for his footballing skills.
