Fabio Capello wanted John Terry to keep the England captain's armband
England manager Fabio Capello has reportedly blasted the Football Association's decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy ahead of Euro 2012.
Capello told Italian television he fundamentally disagreed with the removal of Terry as skipper, as the Chelsea defender awaits trial on a charge of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand when the teams met in the Premier League at Loftus Road in October.
The 31-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges at a hearing last week and his trial was set for July 9, eight days after the end of Euro 2012, forcing the FA to act. But Capello, who earns a reputed £6 million a year as England coach, is not happy at the turn of events.
"I completely disagree with the FA about the John Terry decision and I have told that to the chairman (David Bernstein)," he is said to have told Italian television station Rai 1.
"I told him that I don't think someone can be punished until it becomes official. I considered and still consider Terry as the England captain. I think we first should wait for the trial conclusion.
"The court will decide. It's going to be civil justice, not sports justice, to decide if John Terry committed that crime. And I thought it fair that John Terry keeps the captain's armband."
Terry is currently injured and was in the stands to watch Chelsea draw 3-3 with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The home support booed Rio Ferdinand - brother of Anton - during the match.
Terry was stripped of the captaincy on Friday, the FA releasing a statement that read: "Following the decision to adjourn the court case against John Terry to July, The Football Association confirm he will not captain the England team until the allegations against him are resolved.
"The FA Board expected the trial to be concluded prior to the European Championship. Further to Wednesday's confirmation that the trial will not take place until after the tournament, the board has discussed the matter in detail and has collectively decided it is in the interests of all parties that John has the responsibilities of captaincy removed at this time.
"This decision has been taken due to the higher profile nature of the England captaincy, on and off the pitch, and the additional demands and requirements expected of the captain leading into and during a tournament."
Terry is still free to be selected to play for England, which has raised questions about harmony within the squad, especially if Rio Ferdinand is also picked.
Friday's move by the FA was the second time Chelsea's captain has had the England armband taken from him. In February 2010, Capello sacked him as captain after allegations he had an extra-marital affair with Wayne Bridge's former girlfriend.

The colour of your skin should be neutral. No Black police federation, no black sports clubs, no black unions.
I agree with you whole heartedly on this. I have worked most of my life with peoples of all racial and religious backgrounds. never once have i had trouble with any based on race and / or religion. in many ways, being black or white is irrelevant. We don't have groups set up called "White ____ " or special politics for people with blue eyes in government etc. We are all different in everyway and that's what makes us individual and skin colour should not be a part of our perseption of each other either, other than as a factual feature of a person. And though I have worked in harmony with many different people of many different backgrounds, an earlier comment is quite correct, the "Black" groups are the worst because it is they themselves who perpetuate the label. I don't look in a mirror and see a "White" person staring back. I just see me. i don't look and see any notable features other than those that are ME. The sooner people learn to drop these "labels" that segregate us into groups, the better. David cameron said "we are all in this together" he meant something else, but the same words apply to all peoples, we are all in this together and black, blue, green or blue eyed blonde makes no difference unless we allow it to.

Sounds like if you would not have a problem with Clive dating you daugther then love, as he is right inyour eyes about his views. The others have not come back on here and said that they would not have a problem with having a pretty black man like Clive in there family
make up
Please tell me that I am 100% wrong on the above love.![]()
Alex
Clive is going to give you feedback as to why DA is not in court for what she said, because he has got insight into the issue of the meaning behind what she said. Maybe the somali girls were innocnet because they were not found guitly in a court of law. Or are you now saying that they were guilty before going to court Alex. It was not on youtube because someone like you was that there to film it. If there was then maybe it would have helped the case for the CPS.
I take it that you have seen John Terry on yuotube and now your here to move matters around a little as a means of covering up and coping with seen what the c--- JT said.?
tommo too
Quite right, how come Dianne Abbott isn't being dragged into court for her anti-white rant? Is that on youtube Zulu?
Terry is representing his team and country at football.
The racist Diane Abbott is representing Haringey at policies. Why has she not been charged or suspended?
Why did four Somali girls get let off beating up a white girl? Was that on youtube as well Zulu??
Over to you Danny Clarke
Christ almighty just been reading comments and how nasty they are, just have to say that every game I have been to players are calling each other everything from A to Z . I still think that the old farts at the F.A have this totally wrong as per usual John Terry should still be our captain !!.
good on Fabio for saying as much .
Tolly
I hope you wont be detracted and assume that all black people are like Danny Clarke, I can guarantee that there are more decent black people out there than the total idiot that is Danny Clarke, his stupidy is behond comprehension
and then he rounds on a girl (Sue Williams) about total rubbish, talking about me dating her daughter etc etc, pure and utter garbage comes out of his mouth. and like many others I think he should be banned from this site because his rantings are mostly of a racial nature not footballl
Danny Clarke
What exactly is your fixation with youtube? the amount of insulting posts you spread around is obscene for one that wants to come across as someone with something viable to say about a football topic, but you choose to use these sites to cite racial issues whether they are football related or not, call me uncle tom as many times that suites your little brain, but I can take solace from the fact that most people on here think the same as me about you
IDIOT
Mr Clarke.. I have told you that I am not going to say sorry to anyone who comes on here and does not do there homework. Who told you that she is a lady. You know her personly not do you. As said do your homework first boy.
I am impressed with the ussue of Xomeone like Clive dayting your sister thing. if only others like Sue W were like you. Then England would be a better place for us all. I have not a problem with guy men Clarke. However, whilst we are on that subject would you have a problem if your brother came home with a guy like Clive. I am sure that you would in light of what you said just now
If it is not one thing it is another with people of your sort Mr Clartke. We could be related for we are both Mr Clarke, is that not wonderful![]()
so the weak kneed, lily livered FA committee have decided that in their view John Terry is as good as guilty. Innocent until proven guilty obviously has no place for them. If a jury is to hear the evidence I sincerely hope that they do not get the idea that Terry MUST be guilty else why would the Fa sack him? Whatever anyone thinks of Terry matters not. Much better for the FA to stand by our much acclaimed and seen to be fair judicial system and simply state support for Terry until proven otherwise.
Well done for the England Manager for his support. What do our national team players think when support at the highest level seems to be non existent? Confidence begins and ends with TRUST.
@ sue williams
Clive is English can he date your daughter. I am sure you would be fine with that because your not a racist are you love. You have seen John Terry on youtube and cannot understand what the problem is because you have got your finger on the purse o moral issues love. Clive looks like a good looking guy and therefore I am sure that you will not have any problem with your daughter taking him into your family.
@ Clive/Tom
You just can not help it can you. Like a real uncle Tom you have to say please do not think that we are all like this. @ John Butt I gave you an history insight into why matters to some degree are the way they are. So if a person is abused you think that you can just tell them both to grow up. So in your eyes they are both wrong then. John Terry for saying what he did and Anton for getting upset due to what he was called, In that case it is not of little wonder why we are where we are. We have the power of the computer now when events can clearly be seen. Resulting in some people getting highly exposed on it. You are getting old John because when people like John Terry can not see that they have done something wrong until the CPS has to take them to court. Then your right we are living in different times now.
Thanks Clive
I have had good friends from all walks of life but I hate this "I am better because of the colour of my skin" attitude. Whatever the colour of the skin.It seems to be getting more prevelent in our young society. I feel that things like this that should have been delt with on the football field ( I would have told both players to grow up) now its a matter for lawers and you tube. To be honest it scares me how an event on a football field becomes such a national event. Perhaps I am getting old. I am used to living in a world where people settled their differences talking face to face. Does not seem to happen now.
