City 'snubbed' in bid for Sinclair

Swansea have rejected a bid for Scott Sinclair

Swansea have rejected a bid for Scott Sinclair

Swansea have rejected a bid of £6.2million from Manchester City for winger Scott Sinclair, Press Association Sport understands.

The 23-year-old recently told Swans chairman Huw Jenkins and manager Michael Laudrup that he would not sign a new deal at the Liberty Stadium, and with less than a year to run on his current deal he was widely expected to leave before the transfer window closes on Friday.

City were understood to have made an initial bid of around £5million, but Swansea were keen for a higher offer as Chelsea will get a percentage of any fee due to a sell-on clause inserted when Sinclair moved to south Wales in 2010.

City have now returned with an improved offer, but it is understood it has been turned down by the Swans - who are determined to have their valuation of the player met.

Laudrup and Jenkins have made it clear they are prepared to keep Sinclair in south Wales if they do not believe a deal is in Swansea's best interests.

Sinclair was not included in the squad against West Ham on Saturday, or against Barnsley in the Capital One Cup tonight, but Laudrup has insisted he will restore the wide man to his squad if he remains at the club.

The rejection will only increase City boss Roberto Mancini's frustration as he has voiced his desire to bring in several new faces to strengthen his title-winning squad.

But City now face a race against time to bring in the Team GB star before close of business at the end of the week.

Laudrup remains hopeful of bringing in further additions to his own squad, with deals for Valencia's Pablo Hernandez and Middlesbrough's Marvin Emnes high on the agenda.

Good on you Swansea! Sinclair is a young lad with bags of potential who could be an England regular one day. If he went to Man city he wouldn't of got played nearly as much as he needs to fulfill his potential.

I should think so. Taking the pee or what!

Marvin Emnes knows Swansea from his loan spell in past, be great signing if they pry him from 'Boro and Hernandez looks a classy winger who is a wonderful crosser. Both be quality signings if they come.
Sinclair is a young talent with his best years ahead of him so a £10m pricetag is a bargain though since his contract nearly done he probably head off on a free!! Hope Swans do get a good deal on him they deserve it.

City should chuck in a player as well if they regard Sinclair as that good. It seems to me that they are just buying players from their rivals to weaken them. Swansea's start this season has got them scared.

So Mancini is frustated thats what happens when you try to buy players on the cheap Roberto if you want the player pay swansea what hes worth

dont budge city let him waste away till jan then offer 2 million, bigger fish to catch before fri

Sinclair has made it known publicly he is not going to renew a contract with the Swans once his present 1 expires so can't blame Swansea holding out for a genuine offer considering his talent and that Chelsea will get a cut of the deal.
If City want him so badly they should increase their bid before transfer window ends.
It's a shame Sinclair has chosen to not renew as Laudrup has helped improve an already solid Swans squad so is Sinclair after a big move/big wages that Swans aren't willing to pay? Who knows?
Great result against Barnsley!
