@ steve i am a bit puzzled by your comment that we had a team capable of winning a tournament as we didn't qualify for US 94 i thought we had a good chance in the 86 world cup but for the hand of god

England have already tapped Harry; even the FA aren't that daft to put themselves out on a limb. They knew what they were doing when they stripped Terry of the armband,if Harry had been found guilty they would have backed off and let Fabio re-instate Terry as captain, England still have a manger, as it was, Harry is found not guilty, the FA didn't have to back off, Fabio has no choice but to resign. Job done. Harry is the next manager

1966-1970-1990-1996,the only times England have had a team capable of winning a tournament, and then only one victory in 66.The last 16 years have produced a wave of very mediocre teams and managers i stopped watching them in 2004,no passion no skill no will, just greedy arrogant petulent morons,Rooney world class, dont make me laff,i watch a proper sport these days "Tennis"more excitement passion drama,Djokovic,Nadal,Federer,Murray take a bow, with out you guys the sporitng world would be such a dull place, roll on Wimbledon, sod euro 2012 with its divers and cheats, terrible refs giving penaltys every game, and making it 11 v10 or 9 every game, deciding in efect who wins the bloody thing,FOOTBALL HAS BECOME A JOKE,ex fan

To me Capello's high point has been in bringing some pride and discipline while at camp. The English players are good. Its indiscipline and excessive celebration that kills the team. This later comment goes for most English sportsmen. Just take a look at the cricket team that worked so hard to be world number one. Being there was enough so the team does not focus on remaining there. Look at the poor rugby team that showed so much promise earlier and flopped spectacularly at the world cup. If England wants to succeed at any major championship these drinking and celebration sessions while competitions are on-going should stop.

Capello should have stayed, hes a brilliant manager, if anybody should go it should be the **** who run the F.A. Terry is inoccent until proved guilty and should remain the England captain. There talking about a tax fiddling man unable to read or write or operate a computer replacing a brilliant manager, with his qualifications a normal person wouldn't get a job as a dustbin man. Offer Martin O'neil enough money and he will make a brilliant English team.

I agree that this is all JT'S fault. As for highs and lows what more did you expect. England are NOT  a force in world football anymore. There are not enough gifted players in England to produce a world beating side. The Premier League may be good to watch but it is because it is full of foreign players. The British media always hypes up the side before a major tournament and then persecutes the team amd manager when they eventually fail. England nearly always qualify for the tournament finals and you should be happy with that without expecting to win them.  I think Harry Redknapp would be well advised to steer clear of the England job. He may be the darling of the media now but that will not last long. A man who has had a heart problem recently does not need a lot more pressure.

No Highs for England since 1966 - The world has left English football behind - no trophies in the future - Managers will not change that - we can't play like the European and Latin Nations - African and Eastern nations continue to improve at the beautiful game. Face the facts - no way back and no winners medals for England, Scotland and Wales.

Highs?  What highs?

This is all JT's fault. Had he kept his big mouth shut we wouldnt have had this situation. I think having creamed £20m plus from the FA for a pretty mediocre performance he knew the Euros would go much the same way as the world cup and so getting out early was desirable, all the blame will be on th next manager. Sorted! this was a selfish act, trying to protect himself. Nothing to do with principles! Very unprofessional. Good riddance, he wasnt English he had no pride or desire in what he was doing, money motivated. Simple.
