Gylfi hints at Liverpool move

Gylfi Sigurdsson wheels away after scoring, West Brom v Swansea, Premier League, The Hawthorns, West Bromwich, February 4, 2012

Gylfi Sigurdsson was a big hit on loan at Swansea in the second half of the most recent Premier League season

Midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has admitted he does not expect to complete a transfer to Swansea, opening the door for Liverpool to hijack the move.

Last week Sigurdsson looked on course to finalise a permanent switch from Hoffenheim to Swansea, having impressed on loan at the Liberty Stadium towards the end of the most recent Premier League campaign.

However, Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers' decision to leave the club in order to take over at Liverpool cast doubt on the move - and Sigurdsson now seems willing to follow the Northern Irishman to Anfield.

"It's just unclear at this moment where I will play," he told mbl.is. "I'd like to play on with Swansea since I was really happy there but after Brendan Rodgers left the club for Liverpool, that changed the situation.

"I expect not to stay at Swansea because of the uncertainty going on there as it is not clear who is boss. I have said that my desire to continue playing in the Premier League and Liverpool is completely considered.

"Liverpool is a big club that has a glorious history. English Premier League is the platform that I want to be [playing on] and hopefully I will continue to play in that division."

Take him on and then flog Henderson, please, in 11 minutes he had against England. V Belgium he touched the ball once, then the referee blew the final whistle. And he is a bal winner,Yeah right. Henderson is way out of depth , lacks real potential and at best championship player

He had a very poor game against Spurs, but anything is better than the ghastly Henderson, and sack that snail Charlie Adam, while we are at it.

think this would b a good signing....showed great potential playin for swansea and a good eye for goal. in my eyes would slot into midfield beside stevie no worries as better than henderson, lucas and adam goin on the games he played for swans, dont think loyality should come into it as he was only on loan at swans and was playin for manager to impress him to get a move from hoff so looks like liverpool can hopefully welcome a good signing at a good price for a change....fingers crossed

Gerrard is a very important player to Liverpool. He will have to adapt his game like players like Scholes ( Man U) had to.He has alot to offer while Rodgers looks to rebuild the team as Club Captain. Carra has been a long faithful servant and is also very important but neither player is getting younger. Im intrigued to watch 'Buck' Rodgers grow us into a serious contender for the League & bring back Champ League. In 'Buck' Rodgers I trust Sigurdisson could turn out to be the bargain of the season .YNWA

steven  gerrard still as good as when he won it for us in Istanbul

gylfi would suit playing alongside lucas...i agree with some of the comments.. if liverpool are to become a force again get RID OF DEAD WOOD...build a team round LUCAS.and let gerrard fit into that pattern.... not a team built round Gerrard...with lucas the teams play is fast and flowing...and even players like maxi, henderson and even adams play better..this flowing style suits them..stats show liverpool much more attacking and winning without GERRARD a legend..TIME FOR SENTIMENTS to be banished and attacking football style to suit players picked to be adopted...

Seems to me like he is using Rodgers' move to Anfield as a spring board to play for Liverpool.

Fair play to him, however, if he was happy to be at Swansea (who still are in the Prem Gylfi) then he should stay there.

But as he is a striker and not a bad one at that - i say get your self up the M6, put on that red shirt and score a few for the Anfield massive!! YNWA

if Liverpool are still to be considered a big club they need to go after big players ie modric van persie  not prospects of which they have a few already.

If Liverpool are to avoid relegation next season they certainly need to invest in new players and clear out the dead wood like Gerrard.
