Gylfi Sigurdsson was a big hit on loan at Swansea in the second half of the most recent Premier League season
Midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has admitted he does not expect to complete a transfer to Swansea, opening the door for Liverpool to hijack the move.
Last week Sigurdsson looked on course to finalise a permanent switch from Hoffenheim to Swansea, having impressed on loan at the Liberty Stadium towards the end of the most recent Premier League campaign.
However, Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers' decision to leave the club in order to take over at Liverpool cast doubt on the move - and Sigurdsson now seems willing to follow the Northern Irishman to Anfield.
"It's just unclear at this moment where I will play," he told mbl.is. "I'd like to play on with Swansea since I was really happy there but after Brendan Rodgers left the club for Liverpool, that changed the situation.
"I expect not to stay at Swansea because of the uncertainty going on there as it is not clear who is boss. I have said that my desire to continue playing in the Premier League and Liverpool is completely considered.
"Liverpool is a big club that has a glorious history. English Premier League is the platform that I want to be [playing on] and hopefully I will continue to play in that division."

gylfi would suit playing alongside lucas...i agree with some of the comments.. if liverpool are to become a force again get RID OF DEAD WOOD...build a team round LUCAS.and let gerrard fit into that pattern.... not a team built round Gerrard...with lucas the teams play is fast and flowing...and even players like maxi, henderson and even adams play better..this flowing style suits them..stats show liverpool much more attacking and winning without GERRARD a legend..TIME FOR SENTIMENTS to be banished and attacking football style to suit players picked to be adopted...
Seems to me like he is using Rodgers' move to Anfield as a spring board to play for Liverpool.
Fair play to him, however, if he was happy to be at Swansea (who still are in the Prem Gylfi) then he should stay there.
But as he is a striker and not a bad one at that - i say get your self up the M6, put on that red shirt and score a few for the Anfield massive!! YNWA
