Martinez fined over comments

Roberto Martinez was critical of the referee's performance after Wigan's 4-0 defeat at Manchester United

Roberto Martinez was critical of the referee's performance after Wigan's 4-0 defeat at Manchester United

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has been fined £10,000 after admitting a charge of misconduct in relation to comments made after his side's game against Manchester United last month, the Football Association have confirmed.

A statement on the FA website read: "The charge was in relation to a breach of FA Rule E3 concerning media comments which implied that the match referee and/or match officials in general are motivated by bias and/or brought the game into disrepute. Martinez, who had requested a personal hearing, was also warned as to his future conduct."

The Spaniard was frustrated after his side's 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford, during which England striker Danny Welbeck was awarded a controversial penalty following what seemed to be minimal contact from Ali Al Habsi.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Martinez said: "You know what he is trying to do. I have come to United three times before today and for whatever reason we don't seem to be measured in the same manner as the team at home.

"Today the penalty is as bad a decision as you are going to see in the Premier League.

"In many ways, you feel as though you are fighting against a mountain."

Well if he had slagged, say, Liverpool of and Suarez, he'd been given 8 (Bonus) points lol.

Just another showing how senile and bias this old brigade of the FA are. Fergie has voiced times worst.... many times and nary a word said. No not a Man U hater, just a realist speaking the truth!

No I'm not a scouser or Liverpool fan either. Just saying how it actually is!

Telling the truth like Roberto Martinez... but not getting the flack from the FA ...

well refs are bias towards man u thats no secret we even have fergie time pity there isnt anyone at the fa with enough back bone to put a stop to it after all it is a sport and the same rules should apply to all and it is not a good idea for young people to grow up thinking that bending or breaking the rules is acceptable in life or sport.

The FA loves a bit of controversy, they say that it makes the game interesting. That is why they are unfit to govern. They are bent.

Martinez is only one of many managers who have made similar comments. Why. There must be something in it.

Didn't Ferguson do the same when questioning the amount of time added on (aka Fergie time)? But will he get fined?
Watch this space.....

Man Utd are the spoilt blue eyed child who can never do any wrong in the eyes of the refereess, the linesmen, the FA or the Sun newspaper. The prem is a joke, man utd win things but they dont win with the right spirit the right integrity or the right way.Its all become so predictable and boring that the fans at OT shout for ridiculous decisions and when they get them even their own fans burst out laughing, what a joke.

That's what you get for telling the truth. How are we ever going to rid the game of diving when the FA ignore the obvious. Not only having a go at Welbeck, it happens in every team, you even see the kids doing it on the local school fields.

Good on Martinez for telling the truth. There is a big cover up with Man-u and it needs an  honest, reliable panel to look into it.    Far too many unfair results have happened to any opposng sides. This seriously needs investigation.

So when will Ferguson be charged for his comments about the four minutes of extra time? Don't let's hold our breath. Cheats governed by idiots and time servers.
avatar
Is Fergie getting summoned by the FA for calling the ref a cheat for not giving him the usual extra time to score against Tottenham, or is he in control of the disciplinary board as well?

Big teams get all the decisions. And if they're at home you have little chance,I have seen two penalty decisions in the same game and only the home team was given it. i was a Ref for 26 years in local football and am disgusted with the refs of today. They make so many mistakes by not applying the rules correctly i could go on  and on; but i wont.

Refs to Alex    "Glad we could give you all the decisions again Sir"

Alex to Refs      "what time are you all coming round to lick my a**e"

Refs to Alex     "Same time as always sir, 7pm licky licky slurp slurp

Dumbing down of society.
