QPR ponder Bellamy bid

Craig Bellamy could link up with former manager Mark Hughes at QPR

Craig Bellamy could link up with former manager Mark Hughes at QPR

QPR have discussed the prospect of signing Craig Bellamy, vice-chairman Amit Bhatia has revealed.

Liverpool striker Bellamy has been tipped for a move to Rangers after taking part in the Olympics with Great Britain. New Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has expressed his desire to keep the 33-year-old at Anfield but Rangers could yet swoop for the Welshman, who has also been linked with a return to Cardiff.

Bellamy, who is entering the final year of his contract, played under QPR boss Mark Hughes both for Wales and at Manchester City and Blackburn. Bhatia told Sky Sports News: "Craig is definitely a name that has been mentioned, a name we've discussed. There are a few options."

He continued: "We have been a fan of Craig Bellamy for the last few years, ever since he became available - that's not to say we have not been fans of other players.

"Many names have been tossed about, and who Mark settles on eventually will be his, and we'll do our best to support him."

QPR have also been linked with Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe and Bhatia added: "It would be hard to speculate at this point.

"It's not the right thing to do. Mark likes to have a long list of players! We'll see what happens.

"Many of the players we are after potentially have interest from other clubs also."

Bellamy and Barton will be compulsive viewing although you will need to tune in early as they wont be on the pitch for long. I understand QPR are already practising 9 a side.

Well Joey Barton will be learning a few more 'choice' words from the fish wives ot the Cod Army as he trains with Fleetwood Town for a week. Any chance you Fleetwood fisherman could take him on one of your boats for an experience and then chuck him into the Irish Sea? Whatever you do though, don't catch him in your nets. Maybe the Cod Army think that he was a prize worth, er, catching!

Bellamy is really one of the few players that always play at the top of their gear, in every minute energetically and dynamically.  He is 33 years old, but faster and hard worker then 20-25 lazy players who often hold their hips in the field which I most hate that accustom.  Bellamy can play and run as much as Ryan Giggs so Liverpool will need his better contributions to the club!!!!

If Barton stays and they get Bellamy, they will have the two most odius players in the premier league.

Sean Wheeler -See the pic of Bellamy with the medal around his neck? Yes?  3 clubs won silverware last season, Liverpool were one.  Well done.

John Clarke- Bellamy Odius? Not really. The 'golf-club' attack was an attempt to disrupt LFC making the CL final (didn't work) with Bellamy and Riise hugging after both scoring. A kick at West Ham? Who knows what went on there and its not beyond the likes of Shearer, cantona, gazza, keane, Terry, etc...

Far to young to join QPR, give it another 3 to 4 years and he will fit in perfectly.

Amazing, you people spend all season complaining that the players are not good enough and when there is a suggestion - and only a suggestion - that a player may leave, you want to make a big issue. Transfer window open, new manager wanting his own players. Just what is it that surprizes you all? perhaps you are all new to the way football works?

a good move brendan if he does go to QPR,  shows you are looking to the future ,, unlike the fans.  bellamy is not now a 90 minute player ,, not as sharp,, but still has a season or two left in him ,, but not top four in the prem sort of player ,, that is what brendan is looking at ,,, unlike the fans who need to let the manager do his job ,,, he wants to go places ,,, but the fans are content to stay where they are ,,, happy just slagging someone off ,,,, same old ,,,

A new broom sweeps clean eh. Mind with money as it is now, may take Liverpool a few seasons to off load a load of never weres etc and replace with players the manager wants, and can gell into a team playing as he wants. For example he may well have a style of play, and player in mind. So he will have been over that in detail with the owner and baord and has begun to set that into motion. It might be the same, or very similar to what it was at Swansea. But even Arsenal and Spurs with the quick attacks and passing abilities haven't set the league a light by any stretch of the imagination. Yes very entertaining and ghreat to watch.... But that doesn't, nor hasn't put silverware on the sideboard, let alone in the cupboards.

Yet more and more Liverpool players leaving. The old saying abouts Rat leaving a sinking ship comes to mind. Well lets face it, if they want to win any silver then Liverpool is not the place to do it, for at least 5 years or more and a footballers careers isn't all that long.
