Young revels in 'massive' United win

Paul Robinson and the post keep out Javier Hernandez, Blackburn Rovers v Manchester United, Premier League, April 2, 2012

Sir Alex Ferguson saw his team storm five points clear at the top of the table

Winger Ashley Young hailed a "massive" win for Manchester United as they beat Blackburn 2-0 to go five points clear at the top of the Premier League.

United had to wait until the final ten minutes to secure the win, with Antonio Valencia crashing in from an acute angle before Young's turn and finish ensured the points soon after.

It meant United moved further clear of Manchester rivals City, who could see the gap extended to eight points before they travel to Arsenal on Sunday.

"I think this was a massive game for us. We knew if we won we would go five points clear," Young told Sky Sports. "It was a great result, a great performance."

The win was United's seventh league success on the spin as they have fully cashed in on City's struggles to take over the title race.

United next meet QPR at Old Trafford before City face the Gunners later that day. "It's a crucial time in the season. Everyone knows that," Young said.

On Valencia's strike, he added: "To get that goal, we knew it would come at some point, whether it was a shot or cross it went in the back of the net."

Valencia capped another impressive performance with a memorable goal, but asked whether it was a cross or shot, he joked: "It was 50-50."

chess nut......... i to am a liverpool supporter and yes united have had and are having enviable success. but we had our success when united fans were thinking the same as we are now. and just like our success uniteds will run out and so the cycle goes on. as a liverpool fan the issue i have is that i can't see us moving forward anytime soon. united success was built on the same formula as ours was and that is generating exciting young talented players in house. look at uniteds team now, how many times are players like scholes giggs rooney evans fletcher digging out points for them. yes rooney was bought but fergie developed him, do you think he would be the same player if he'd stopped at everton??? our team doesnt have that, we have relied on gerrard and what have we got now spearing? shelvey? flanagan? success is built and more importantly sustained by using a tried and trusted formula, stick with the right manager, surround him with quality coaches and develop in house and add a quality 2-3 signings around them,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,simples!

The impetus is with Utd...

...Money can't buy you everything...not even the title!

chessnut........who have we brought through in the last five years?  Wellbeck, Cleverley?  What about Simpson at Newcastle too......he was brill last Sunday lol.  And what about the players he did buy.......on the cheap....who have turned out world class?  Vidic, Evra, Hernandez.
Smalling and Jones were bought too........England defenders for the next ten years.
And though the twins were bought, they were bought as kids, and converted from wingers to full backs by SAF.  As regards United falling apart when SAF retired.......thats a hope you have,  nothing more.  People lived with the millstone of Shanks success.......and SAF himself lived with the millstone of Busby's.
Liverpool need a new ground to compete....and they can't afford one. FACT
They need new players......they can't afford any. FACT
They need to get some semblance of a reputation back.....they wont with Klu Klux Kenny at the helm. FACT.    Extend his contract lol.

THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT.......THE FUTURE IS RED

I was hoping City would buy the title this season as I am sick of Man U winning with their home grown talent:

De Gea, Rafael, Fabio, Evra, Ferdinand, Jones, Smalling, Vidic, Anderson, Carrick, Nani, Park, Valencia, Berbatov, Hernandez, Obertan, Owen, Rooney, Young !!!!

chessnut you knob. now you can't read you ****. I NEVER said who have we bought in the last five years you illiterate coward.  So Wellbeck and Cleverley aren't as good as Scholes? So what....who is?  The fact remains that the dynasty goes on into its third winning decade. Victims FC ruled the 70's and 80's. United have ruled the 90's, 00's....and are well on the way to dominating the 10's too. Liverpool are looking to avoid relegation next season.  So you don't rate Wellbeck and Cleverley? Bet they're gutted lol.  What the feck would you know loser.
All you do is spend your time defending the undefendable of your clubs disgrace at Heysal.
How long did it take Liverpool FC to officially apologise to Juventus?  Over 20yrs. Says it all ****.

If your job "requires a high level of education" Danny how come every time you post on MSN the result looks like the work of an illiterate, retarded chimpanzee? Seriously, either English isn't your first language or you've got problems.
