Adlington wins bronze
Rebecca Adlington took the bronze medal in a tough 400m freestyle final. The award takes her into the record books as the first woman ever to win medals in three consecutive Olympic games.
Well done Rebecca! and good luck to all athletes yet to perform.
The problem with England is that the media puts to much pressure on our athletes , the pundits say we should win a medal here and there , the papers say we should win so many golds and the television says the same.
The Olympics is what it is.........thousands of athletes around the world competing for a medal in their event. THIS IS WHERE BBC IS GOING WRONG IN THEIR BROADCASTING.
Everytime i put the olympics on they dont show anything without a British athlete involved only the finals (and if they have to do that they quickly move on to another event ) and they spend more time talking about the british athlete who lost rather than the Olympic winner!!!......this is the world taking part not just Great Britain!...yes i expect this to be a little bias ......but this is the WORLD GAMES with all the world watching !
and while we are on the subject... how come she wasn't made a Dame after the last Olympics??
Kelly Holmes was after winning 2 golds, so where is the difference???
we seem to devalue these "awards" (obe, cbe etc) by giving them to people who win something they are getting paid to take part in, so fairs fair, give it to Adlington if you give it to Holmes!!
