Wiggins repeats 2004 glory, Beijing 2008
Great Britain's Bradley Wiggins during the individual pursuit final at the Loashan Velodrome during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
At the Beijing Olympics British cyclists dominated the velodrome and Bradley Wiggins was one of those who graced the top of the podium.
After his gold medal in the 4000 metres individual pursuit at Athens 2004, Wiggins knew that the British fans would be focussed on his final in China as he aimed to retain his title.
The gold medal encounter saw Wiggins take on New Zealand's Hayden Roulston and despite Roulston holding the early advantage Wiggins had plenty in the tank, crossing the line three seconds ahead of his rival.
In victory, Wiggins became the first rider to successfully defend a pursuit title at the Olympic Games and it wasn't just Wiggins who secured an individual pursuit medal for Great Britain as Steven Burke took an unexpected bronze medal after overcoming Russia's Alexei Markov.
