US strike basketball gold
Kevin Durant led the USa to basketball gold
The United States overcame some fierce resistance from Spain to land their fifth basketball gold in six Olympic Games since the start of the 'Dream Team' era with a 107-100 victory.
It was the closest final since the Soviet Union beat the Americans 51-50 40 years ago, and the second closest in Olympic history.
Kevin Durant scored 30 points to lead the Americans while LeBron James had 19 and Kobe Bryant 17.
Kobe Bryant has confirmed his intention to retire from international basketball after winning his second gold medal with the United States.
The Los Angeles Lakers star, who won gold in Beijing four years ago, scored 17 points to help the Americans to a hard-fought 107-100 victory over European champions Spain in London in the second closest Olympic final in history.
After the game, Bryant, who turns 34 later this month, said: "This is it for me. The other guys are good to go."
"It's all about the USA," James said. "It's about the three letters on the chest."
