Covering a 550-acre site to the east of London in Essex, Hadleigh Farm's hilly terrain, grassland and woodland areas and rock formations will make for an exciting experience for the riders involved in the mountain bike competition at London 2012. Owned by the Salvation Army, the venue has been chosen as the temporary venue for the cross-country competitions because it provides all the technically-challenging elements needed to make up a testing course. The 700-year-old ruins of Hadleigh Castle provide a picturesque backdrop to the proceedings for the riders, as well as the 20,000 spectators who will be able to watch the action from around the course.
