The world's best tennis players return to Wimbledon for the Olympics just three weeks after the annual grand slam tournament has finished at the famous grass-court venue. Wimbledon's Centre Court, which was opened in 1922 and modernised with a new roof in 2009, will host the gold-medal matches in the men's and women's singles and doubles, as well as the mixed doubles. The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club is based in the grounds of SW19, which has been hosting major tennis competitions since the late 19th Century. Wimbledon is located in south-west London, near Richmond Park.
