ParalympicsGB judoka Sam Ingram just missed out on gold but leaves London 2012 as a silver medallist.

The 27-year-old just lost out to Cuban Jorge Hierrezuelo Marcillis for the under 90kg crown in front of a raucous crowd at the ExCel.

The match went the full five minutes but Ingram lost by a yuko, meaning it was silver rather than gold he would add to his bronze medal from Beijing four years ago.

"I am gutted," he said. "It feels like all the training I've done, all the physio I've done, all the hours I've had off my coach and all his time has been close, but no cigar.

"I saw it as I was going to win it but in fact it didn't turn out that way. I know everyone says that's sport, but I found the guy really difficult to control. He was really erratic in his movement and it was a really scrappy fight."

"It just turns out I wasn't on top of it and I went out to a low score and that's it. In judo, that's the difference between gold and silver - a tiny little mistake. Once it's gone, it's gone."

Ingram competes for the visually impaired judo team alongside brother Joe, who had also looked on course for a medal..

The elder of the Ingram brothers beat Canada's Tim Rees in the -100kg category this morning, before losing to world number one Choi Gwang-geun of South Korea in the quarter-finals.

Joe dropped into the repechage and faced Germany's Oliver Upmann for a place in the bronze medal contest, which it looked like he had made with an ippon.

However, the judges deemed Upmann victor.
