Prince Edward
Prince Edward stands during the national anthem
I doubt that anybody would be feeling blue as the whole event was something pretty special, as was the olympic games themselves.
Sebastian Coe's speech was a pretty powerful statement, it reinforced that everybody is equal and it possibly secured him a place in history, I'd be very surprised if he never made it to number ten sometime during the future,
I doubt if the British game's will ever be surpassed, you could not have bought the support for participants, it has to be there to begin with, the British public are the best crowd in the world, you cannot get a better nation.
Its possibly for the above reason that britain will always be seen as Great Britain as only the British can get it right when it matters.
It could all have been so good. The paralypians deserved better for their sacrifice and hard work; I for one am sad at the feebleness and dark commercialism that has stained what should have been a salute to all those who took part.
To all of you who took part I say thankyou, well done, good health and fortune, happiness and continued success.
Furthermore, we ordinary folk give thanks for your commitment and continued willingness to overcome, despite odds that would defeat all but the most worthy of us.
I salute you all.
We all have differing views on the closing ceremony but, that apart, when did the actor Steve Martin become the lead singer of Coldplay? Come on MSN, take the time to do some research before you caption the images!
Besides the views of some that the ceremony was a Paganesque Festival of Fire, the Paralympic Games themselves were inspirational and I hope that the message, emotion and change of attitudes to disability will last long into the future.
VERY GOOD - The closing ceremony was very good - but yet again channel 4 was more concerned about having adverts. The have no idea on how to broadcast a live event. As for the presenters, I suggest that some of them go in a dark room and remain there. The most annoying thingt about the ceremony for me was the "bloody adverts". Channel 4 are more interested in getting revenue in than broadcasting the ceremony.
Verdict - Well done to "Team GB" athletes. Those who were good enough to win medals, and to the others who took part. you have done the country, and yourselves proud - great performance ! !
Verdict - Channel 4 - CRAP!!
